Overview 

1st day : Marrakesh – Agdez 
We depart at 8 am. Marrakesh, cross the High Atlas Mountains. After the Tichka pass, we leave the main road, take a side road to Telouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Glaoui family (Lords of the Atlas), it is in ruins now after the French left and the last Pasha fled. 
We continue along the beautiful connecting road and have lunch at Ait Ben Haddou. When lunch is over we can visit the Kasbah. It is the most famous in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. After lunch we travel south to Agdez, where the Dra’a Valley starts. We spend the night in a kabah. 

 

 

2nd day : Agdez – Chagaga 
Following breakfast there will be time for visiting the rest of the Kasbah. We will then take travel off-road and along some of the ancient caravan between the mountains and the river, we will pass villages and gardens so that you will get a better perspective of the way of life along the oases. We drive to M’hamid, the gate to the desert, to Erg Lihoudi, where and have lunch. Then, we continue to the Erg Chagaga dunes (300m) with 60km of off-road driving. This route includes different features of the desert ; ‘erg’, ‘reg’, ‘hammada’, oases. The dunes you will see are very far from civilization, in the desert proper ……. And the peace and the vast amount of the sand are overwhelming sight ! Once there you can take a camel ride for an hour and a half. In the evening a dinner and a good night’s sleep are in a bivouac of nomad tents. nts.

 

 

3rd day : Chagaga – Tata 
Following breakfast we drive 90 km across the Sahara, we visit the stony desert, “reg” and “hammada” and across the dried-up Lake Iriqui. However, in the middle of this dried up lake, we can search for fossils. At Foum Zguid, the edge of the dessert we turn west along the edge and take the road to Tata which very few people ever visit. This is the old Algeria to Zagora caravan route and it passes the oases and the Jebel Bani Mountains to the Anti Atlas. In Tata, the Kasbah we can visit the Kasbah and the small museum and then spend the night in a riad. 

 

 

4th day : Tata to Tafraoute 
Leaving Tata, we go north through a very long gorge following the Tata river and passing through Tiata Tagmoute, a small Berber town, to the Taliouine and Tafraoute road, this turns south west towards Tafraoute in the Anti-Atlas. We go through the different Berber towns of Azoura, Idaoua, Tiguermine and Ait Abdellah. We are taking the scenic route here and not the main one so we can see the incredible views of the country. We will spend the night here in the small town.

 

 

5th day : Tafrouate to Taroudant 
We will first visit the rock painting and then we travel on to Taroudant called the little Marrakesh because of the city walls surrounding it. Taroudant is famous for its silver jewelry. After we cross the mountain roads we will spend the night here.

 

 

6th day : Taroudant - Marrakesh 
Following breakfast and a little exploring we travel along the Souss river valley. There are argane groves and orange plantations along the way to Agadir. We will then take a new motorway to arrive in Marrakesh by the end of the afternoon.
