Overview

1st day : Marrakesh – Dades gorges.
We depart at 8 am. from Marrakesh, cross the High Atlas Mountains. After the Tichka pass, we leave the main road, take a side road to Telouet Kasbah, which belonged to the Glaoui family (Lords of the Atlas), it is in ruins now after the French left and the last Pasha fled.
We continue along a beautiful connecting road and eat lunch at Ait Ben Haddou. When lunch is over we can visit the Kasbah. It is the most famous in Morocco and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then the road takes us to the Skoura Oasis, where many ancient kasbahs are located, some, in ruins, stand along the palm trees. Then the road runs through Kela’a M’gouna, the Valley of Roses, we will stop to see cosmetic products that are locally-made from the valley’s vast supply of roses. We stop and spend the night in a guest house in the Dades Gorge.

2nd day : Dades gorges – Merzouga

We take a walk by the river after we eat breakfast and then we continuing to the unique gorges of Toudgha. When we have lunch, we will eat in the Toudgha Gorges or at the Bivouac at the Erg Chebbi dunes. We drive there by way of the Ziz Valley and the towns of Erfoud and Rissani where the king's family is from.
Tea is in the afternoon and there are camel rides from one to two hours in the Sahara. Late in the afternoon is a beautiful sunset from the top of the dunes. It’s an incredible sight (250m). Dinner is later that evening and we spend the night in a nomad tent at the foot of the lovely dunes.

3rd day : Merzouga – Marrakesh

If you are an early riser, you can watch the unbelievably gorgeous sunrise, that is also the time when the colour of the dunes and the shadows play together, another awesome sight. We head westward after all of that excitement. Driving back west to the Dra’a Valley will take us along the l Saghro mountains by way of the villages of Tazzarine (featured in the film ‘Babel’) and in N’Qob, we have lunch overlooking the beautiful mountains.
We reach Dra’a Valley after we drive to Tanasikht in the afternoon. It is full of very big palm trees and ancient kasbahs. We then go to the track of the ancient caravan to Agdez and the valley’s oldest Kasbah, Tamnougalte. Returning to Marrakesh by way of the High Atlas in the afternoon.
